Find Your Fit FAQ’s

Why is it important to find the right therapist?
The relationship between you and your therapist is one of the most important parts of successful counselling. Research consistently shows that feeling safe, understood, and respected by your therapist leads to better outcomes. At Momentous Counselling, we encourage you to find a therapist whose style, personality, and approach feel like the right fit for you.
How do I know which therapist is right for me?

The right therapist is someone you feel comfortable with and supported by. When choosing a therapist, you may want to consider their experience, therapeutic approaches, and areas of focus. We offer free consultations so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether the connection feels right.

What if I’m not sure what kind of therapy I need?

Many people start therapy without knowing exactly what approach will work best for them. That’s completely normal. Our therapists use a variety of evidence-based approaches and will work collaboratively with you to determine what feels most helpful and supportive.

Can I switch therapists if it doesn’t feel like the right fit?

Absolutely. Finding the right fit matters, and sometimes that takes time. If you feel that another therapist on our team might be a better match, we’re happy to help you transition so you can continue getting the support you need.

Do different therapists specialize in different concerns?

Yes. Each therapist brings unique training, experience, and interests to their work. Some focus on areas like neurodiversity, relationship concerns, life transitions, trauma, or workplace stress. Exploring therapist profiles can help you find someone whose expertise aligns with your needs.

How long does it take to know if therapy is working?

Everyone’s experience is different. Some people notice changes within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. A good therapist will regularly check in about your goals, ensure therapy remains useful and meaningful, and work within your timeframes and insurance coverage.
